Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS)

Styrene Butadiene Styrene

SBS is a thermoplastic elastomer made with two monomers, which are styrene and butadiene, and shows the properties of plastic and rubber at the same time. Due to these properties, it is widely used in a variety of areas including plastic modifying agent, asphalt modifying agent and adhesives.

    • Soles of shoes
    • Tire treads
    • And other places where durability is important
    • Polystyrene is a tough hard plastic, and this gives SBS its durability.
    • Polybutadiene is rubbery, and this gives SBS its rubber-like properties
    • These are materials that behave like elastomeric rubbers at room temperature, but when heated, can be processed like plastics.
